OASIS-C1 Delayed, But Not For Long
OASIS-C1 Delayed, But Not For Long
According to a CMS announcement, a new version of the OASIS is being created for implementation on January 1, 2015, three months delayed from the original timeline.
The new data set, referred to as the "OASIS-C1/ICD-9" version will be a hybrid containing all the OASIS-C1 data set modifications that were approved by the OMB in February 2014; EXCEPT all of the ICD-10 items are replaced with their "original" ICD-9 counterparts.
The ICD-9 coding items that will be returned to the data set, replacing their ICD-10 equivalents include:
M1010 (Inpatient Diagnosis) returning in the place of M1011
M1016 (Diagnosis Requiring Treatment Change) back in for M1017
M1020/M1022/M1024 (Primary, Other, and Payment Diagnoses) replacing their fellow ICD-10 parallels M1021/M1023/M1025.
The OASIS-C1/ICD-9 version of the OASIS should be used for all assessments with a M0090 date on or after January 1, 2015.
Conversion to Assessment Submission and Processing (ASAP) System
Save the Date: December 26th, 2014
OASIS submissions to the state system will discontinue at 6:00PM ET.
